This section of the curriculum covers developing the feel of getting your body into motion and learning the sequence it will most freely move in. The swing has 4 distinct components that drive all swings regardless of size: the heave, the counterfall, the shoulder drop and the turn. As you go through these drills at your desired pace and level of difficulty, you will find that there is a commonality from drill to drill and each shot you approach. Use this first stage as an opportunity to put yourself into a new environment if you have never done anything like this before. If you have, use this to really drive home the fundamental concepts of movement. This is where you begin building the foundation for all of your shots. Allow yourself to be the observer. Notice the changes your body starts to feel and where your attention is being drawn towards. As the process unfolds, you will become aware of making more and more subtle changes to your overall swing and game.
By this point, you will have started to feel how getting your body into motion, and learning how a proper sequence allows for more freedom in your swing. As you continue this journey in your development, it is important to further sharpen your abilities and fine tune the dynamics of your entire game. In this stage of the curriculum, we will be helping you develop a highly trained sensitivity to controlling the distances in your short game; this will help bring your scores down tremendously. Additionally, you will be learning how to be comfortable with all types of terrains, for all types of shots. Then comes learning how to shape your ball flight and how to properly strategize your game for any golf course. These are incredibly fun times, because this is where you really start developing the abilities to become a “feel player”. This is your opportunity to create a swing you can rely upon and a sense of accomplishment for what you have achieved. Keep with it and you will reap the benefits. Enjoy Stage 2 of the Gravity Golf Challenge!
This section of the curriculum deals with golf course management, advanced drills and how to deal with the tricks your own brain plays on you. As any player develops in the game of golf, his/her awareness of nuances in the swing, in the golf course, and even in the brain itself, need to develop simultaneously. We will cover issues that all players encounter. Due to restraints of time and space, none of these issues can be examined in totality. However, we welcome questions on any particular subject of interest to you, where more information is desired.
